About the Grant

The Bow Valley Emerging Artist Grant is dedicated to advancing the next generation of local musicians. By easing financial barriers, the program helps emerging artists transform ambition into achievement, ideas into recordings, and early collaborations into sustained artistic careers.

Our goal is simple: strengthen the Bow Valley music scene and support a thriving, connected cultural community.

Grant Details

• Application Deadline: October 31 (annually)

• Recipients Announced: By December 15

Who Can Apply

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Musicians of all genres are welcome - individuals, bands, and collectives may apply.

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

• Must demonstrate artistic potential and financial need.

• Must be a current resident of the Bow Valley for a minimum of two consecutive years OR must have lived in and/or grown up in the Bow Valley for at least five years in total.

What the Grant Can Support

Funding may be used for:

• Recording costs (studio time, production, mixing/mastering)

• Essential equipment purchases

• Touring support (travel, accommodation, promotion)

• Tuition or fees for music education and training

• Emergency relief due to unexpected financial hardship

Application Requirements

All materials must be submitted through the online application form.

1. Applicant Information

• Full name (or band/collective name)

• Contact details

• Proof of Bow Valley residency

• Artist biography (300–500 words)

2. Artistic Portfolio

• Recent audio and/or video samples (links preferred)

• Description of artistic style and experience

• Summary of performances, collaborations, or achievements

3. Statement of Financial Need

A 300-word statement outlining:

• Your current financial situation

• Barriers you are facing

• Why this funding is essential at this stage

4. Project Proposal & Budget

• Clear description of how funds will be used

• Timeline for completion

• Detailed, itemized budget

5. Letters of Recommendation

Two letters from music professionals, mentors, or educators familiar with your work.

Review & Selection

Applications will be reviewed by a panel of local educators, music professionals, and representatives of the grant.

Selections will be based on:

• Artistic merit

• Financial need

• Feasibility of the proposed project

• Potential impact of funding on your artistic development
